NTA, NOA to partner NOUN centre on advocacy

The General Manager, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Gombe Station, Alhaji Abubakar Adamu, has expressed the station's readiness to  partner with Gombe Study Centre of National Open University of Nigeria in publicising the activities of the university in Gombe town and its environs.

Adamu stated this when he received the officials of Gombe Study Centre team of advocacy, led by the centre's Senior Assistant Registrar,  Mrs. Maryam Usman Kida, who paid him a courtesy visit at the station.

Adamu while commending the efforts of the university in providing easy access to education to all Nigerians, pledged to support and collaborate with the university in sensitising the public on the existence and activities of the university in the state.

Earlier, Mrs. Maryam Kida, who represented the Centre Director, Dr. Nuhu Garba, said they were at the station to create awareness and sensitisation on the existence and activities of the university in Gombe state.

Kida who reiterated the university's mandate in taking education to the doorsteps of Nigerians, also maintained that the university has study centres nationwide within which eight faculties offer different programmes in many disciplines, with direct links to the socio-economic development of the country.

Kida therefore, solicited for collaboration and  support of the station in spreading the message of the university to the general public.

The advocacy drive also took the team to the office of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Gombe Directorate, where similar message was extended to the officers of the agency.

The NOA director, Mrs. Sarah Yapwa, expressed her delight for the visit and also promised to partner with the university in enlighting the general public on the activities of the University in Gombe state.
